This past Saturday, Mario Lopez made an appearance at Bloomingdales in Aventura Mall (in North Miami), to debut his new underwear line, Rated M.

Mario is the face (and body) of his line’s campaign, which you can take a peek of here.  The line is divided into three collections: Atelier, which has a little more flair, Elementary, which is simple and basic, and Play, which is a little more athletic, combining performance and style.

Thanks to Megan, who represents Rated M, myself and a few other media guests were invited to interview Mario and snap some up close and personal pics!

Look at those dimples!

Mario told us that he always wanted to get into the apparel business, and wanted to create something where casual and fitness-wear bleed into each other.  He decided to start with underwear, since everyone needs it.
Mario wanted his underwear line to be a high-quality product that was fun, sexy, and had a little attitude.  He explained that the “M” in Rated M can stand for anything a man wants it to – modern, magical, I joked, “Mario”.
The line also includes t-shirts and undergarments that are perfect for the beach, working out, or just running around town.  He also mentioned how he loves that the shirts in the “Play” collection have a reflective emblem of the Rated M logo on the side, which you can see in this shot from the brand’s campaign:

I asked Mario what type of customer he had in mind when creating the line,  He told us it was for anyone looking for a great quality, long-lasting product (he brought up the fact that the elastic band on a lot of mens underwear begins to get stretched out and shrivel to look like bacon), and something with an edge for men that don’t take themselves too seriously.

True to my post’s title, Mario did give us a sneak pic of the Rated M undies he was sporting – Boxer Briefs.

After our interviews, it was time for the fashion show.  A large crowd gathered around once they realized what was going on (an afternoon fashion show of male models in underwear is quite the treat!)

Models strutted down the runway, sporting styles from each collection, while Mario emceed the show and told us which type each model was wearing.

The Rated M line is currently available on freshpair.com, undergear.com, mensunderwearstore.com, and coming soon to Bloomingdales.
