On Friday night I went out with my friend Shakirra, who informed me she was going to FLBlogCon the next day. I never bought a ticket at the time they were on sale, and tickets sold out pretty quickly. After learning that my friend was going, I was kicking myself for not purchasing a ticket earlier! I randomly checked our Central Florida Blogger Facebook group that night around midnight, and saw that a woman had posted that she had something come up at the last minute, and would be giving away her ticket to the first person that responded! She had posted the offer on the page 2 hours prior, yet no one had responded yet – it’s like it was meant to be! I quickly responded, she transferred the ticket to my name, and I was good to go!

I posted my #OOTD on Instagram before heading out the door, and I’ve created an #OOTD Copycat collection below it:

The actual conference was really great, and I learned about a ton of useful tools to implement into my blog, and to help analyze all of my social media analytics.

I know some of you may not be bloggers yourself, but one speaker really stood out to me, and you definitely don’t have to be a blogger to appreciate his creative tactics, and use it as inspiration to follow your own creative ideas!

Jason Headsetsdotcom, formerly Jason Sadler, (I’ll explain more about this in a second), is the man behind the social media phenomenon that is iwearyourshirt.com. He started by offering to wear a different companies’ branded t-shirt everyday, and charging them a small fee. He then posted a daily photo or video of each day’s t-shirt, on his social media channels. He has since stopped wearing the t-shirts, and has a handful of other incredible ventures, which you can learn on his personal website, jasonsadler.com.
Regarding his last name, he explained that in 2012, his mother got divorced, and he decided he wanted to change his last name. As a creative guy with a social media following, he figured he would auction off his last name for the year, and officially change it for 2013 to the highest bidder. Headsets.com was the highest bidder, paying Jason $45K to change his last name to Headsetsdotcom for the year. He told us that he plans to auction off his last name one more time, for next year. His creative ideas and social media presence has landed him a variety of sponsorships, and he has another big announcement that we will learn about on October 1. He now posts all of these things on his personal website, where he also posts previous pictures of his t-shirt wearing days – most of which are hilarious!
His presentation really proves that if you have an idea, just go for it! Who would have ever thought that offering companies to wear a t-shirt with their logo, would have turned him into the successful entrepreneur that he is today.
All in all, it was a fabulous conference, and I still can’t believe I lucked out and was gifted that extra available ticket at the eleventh hour!
Here’s a quick shot of me, my friend Shakirra, and another new friend, Mariani. They are both in the beginning stages of starting blogs as well!
