First off, I hope you are all staying safe and healthy during this trying time. It’s a scary and uncertain time in the world, and I am personally doing my best to stay focused by spending time on projects, ideas, and staying productive. Since most (hopefully all) of you are stuck at home, I’ve decided to launch a home decor series!

It’s day five of my quarantine and I am knee-deep in home decor ideas, wishlists, and to-do lists for our new apartment. Luckily, we moved in just in time, and now have plenty of time to calmly unpack, organize, and decorate. One of my favorite parts about moving (because really, there are not many) is being able to refresh decor and re-style all of the rooms, which is the inspiration for this home decor series.

A great way to start with a decor refresh, is to repurpose home decor pieces that you already own, This is a great way to get creative before purchasing new items.  Take a look at your vases, baskets, plants, and (chic) knick knacks, and find a new way to use or place them, for an instantly fresh look! I have had a glass vase styled with fake lemons for years, and I’m planning to transfer those to a wooden bowl for my balcony, and use the vase for flowers/greenery instead!

Our new apartment now has a home office which my fiancé and I will share, so we will be searching for the perfect matching desks and pull-out couch (it will double as a guest room). This will really be the only furniture that we need, so the rest of our purchases will be for what I like to call, the fun stuff! Mirrors, frames, candles, trays, rugs, pillows, and plants are all easy to find, and less expensive items that can really give any room an entirely new look and vibe.

I absolutely love fresh flowers, plants, and greenery in the home, though I definitely do not have the greenest of thumbs. That’s why the first post in my home decor series will focus on…artificial plants! We have a mix of faux and real plants in our apartment, and I am always on the hunt for realistic plants and succulents that we can add into the mix. I’ve rounded up options that are stylish and affordable (under $25), which can easily be added into your current home decor, for a lively and fresh touch!
