DailyGlow has created a super fun app that allows you to try different nail polish shades and patterns on your very own nails!  I’m going to walk you through the basics, and then show you some fun I had with it!

It starts with a “default” hand
(P.S. notice the huge bling she’s rockin’)
If you take a look at the menu on the bottom, you can choose from options such as “Change Photo”, which allows you to quickly snap a photo of your own hand with your phone’s camera.  You can make the nails shorter or longer, and thicker or thinner so that they will properly fit onto the hand.  “Select Nails” brings up a long menu of different polish and design choices that you can select from.
Now for some fun!  I am a HUGEEEEEE fan of the hit TV show Jerseylicious on the Style Network.  I have never missed an episode since it premiered, and it is just so drama-filled and addictive, I can’t help it!  If you’ve ever watched it, you must be familiar with the long, LONG acrylic claws these girls have that they call nails.  Usually french-mani, but one of my favorite girls, Olivia, has recently been donning animal pattern and blinged-out designs (sometimes a different design on each finger).
Exhibit A (Tracy from Jerseylicious)

 Exhibit B (Olivia from Jerseylicious)

Exhibit C (Tracy again, with an even longer, “flaired” french mani that she has been sporting this season)
These are OOC! (Out of Control)

I decided to play around with the DailyGlow app, and make some “Jerseylicious” nails of my own.  Have a look at my creations:

First Up: the Classic Jersey Zebra
Next we have: Jersey Bling a la Olivia
Next up: A Very Jersey Christmas
Last, but not least: the everyday Jersey French Mani

I also did an example of how you can shorten the nails, and chose this Kate Spade-esque design
If you have a smartphone and are able to download apps, I highly recommend you download the (FREE!) DailyGlow Nail Polish app and have some fun of your own!  Also, here’s a tip, since I had to make the nails thinner in width to fit the photo I took of my hand, it was easier to apply them once I turned my phone upside down, so I could line the edges up with my cuticles (otherwise it’s really hard to see the cuticles and it’s more difficult to place the nails).
Also, if you haven’t seen Jerseylicious (this post is not endorsed by them, I just truly love the show), I highly recommend that you check it out, and definitely let me know what you think!  Be sure to share your nail creations with me too!

  1. I work as a professional hand model. You could say I make a living one hand job to the next 😉 I’ve never seen an app like this and appreciate the HANDY tip. You’d be surprised how many colors clash with certain skin tones. Next time I’m wondering about a color, I’ll be sure to test it first. Thanks!
